Are You a Small Business?
Are You a Small Business?

That depends!  What you do, the number of employees you have, and your annual revenues affect the “size standards” of a business for Federal and US Small Business Administration (SBA) activities.  You’ll also find that certain programs may have their own size standards based on their unique requirements.

For example, Small Business Environmental Assistance Programs (SBEAPs) established through the Clean Air Act may be limited to helping businesses with fewer than 100 employees and emissions less than 50 tons per year per pollutant or 75 tons per year of combined pollutants.  Check with your state SBEAP contact for more information about the businesses they serve.

Your Go-To Resource for Small Business Environmental Assistance

The Small Business Environmental Home Page is here for two reasons:

To assist small business assistance providers in helping small businesses with environmental compliance and sustainable business information

To help small businesses directly with basic environmental compliance and sustainable business information, including but not limited to, industry-specific best practices, regulatory guidance, and funding opportunities for new environmental technologies.

Your state environmental agency and small business environmental assistance program can help you with specific requirements for your business.  You can find lists of state programs and contacts here.

Getting Around

The Small Business Environmental Home Page is organized into nine major sections, some of which are geared toward small businesses and others primarily for assistance providers.  These sections can be found on the left side of this page.  You can feel free to browse the entire site, but the most relevant pages for you are listed below.
