I had to write to say thank you for your support of my
role within the Georgia SBAP. Everyone made me feel welcome and wanted at
the 2006 conference. I am at a loss for words on the award presented to
me, and I am sure there was someone that deserved it more than I. I can’t
express how much it means to me, Walker Concrete and GC&PA. My expertise
is in safety (OSHA regulations) not environmental, so to be welcomed and awarded
by the SBO/SBAP was and is very special to me. Working with Anita
Dorsey-Word, Lee Tate, Woody Barnes and Jim Sommerville is a pleasure, they are
truly dedicated to the program. I look forward to the rest of my term on
the Georgia CAP and working with the rest of the CAPs across the country.
If there is anything that I can do to help any of you, please let me know.
Two things we must preserve for the future of our country are: 1)
Small businesses, and 2) The environment, and
serving on the CAP. I can help with both. Again thank all of you.

I accepted this award in June 2005 for all our 14
facilities. I am pleased to have managers, and employees that work very
hard to go above and beyond the standards set for the radiator repair industry.
We were thankful to be nominated for this award, and
then to have actually received it, was very exciting. It is gratifying to
have agencies, nationally and locally, notice and recognize the efforts we have
made in the past years. Doing our part in protecting the environment,
workplace, and employees is important to Mac’s Radiator. We believe our
customers would agree. Mac’s Radiator hopes to be the example for other
radiator shops.
We are very proud of this award and enjoy sharing our
story with customers and colleagues.

I accepted this award on behalf of our six-person family asphalt business.
Our company has innovated a pavement that emits 85% less air pollution compared
to the current method. This saves the mass emission of three tons of VOC
per mile paved.
I was excited to accept this award and placed it in our scalehouse where most of
our customers see it. Just to see an EPA award to a small business really
impresses people. Those customers that look for the betterment of the community
and environment remark that we must really care - and we do! Fellow
business people that we deal with (insurance, bankers, vendors, etc.) see that
we go the extra mile to contribute to the betterment of the
community and the workplace. It makes a difference.
