Comments from 2004 Awards Winners
March 14, 2005
Comments on what is was like being a SBO/SBAP Steering Committee, National
CAP, EPA Small Business Ombudsman Environmental Stewardship Award Recipient in
2004.
I accepted this award on behalf of our six-person family asphalt business.
Our company has innovated a pavement that emits 85% less air pollution compared
to the current method. This saves the mass emission of three tons of VOC
per mile paved.
I was excited to accept this award and placed it in our scalehouse where most of
our customers see it. Just to see an EPA award to a small business really
impresses people. Those customers that look for the betterment of the community
and environment remark that we must really care - and we do! Fellow
business people that we deal with (insurance, bankers, vendors, etc.) see that
we go the extra mile to contribute to the betterment of the
community and the workplace. It makes a difference.
