Active Capital — Nationwide internet-based listing service that provides information to "angel" investors (typically wealthy individuals with significant business experience) on small, dynamic, growing businesses seeking $250,000 to $5 million in equity financing.

Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance — Summary of federal programs that provide grants, loans, loan guarantees, services, information, scholarships, training, and insurance to the American public.

Inventions and Innovation Program — U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) program providing financial assistance at two levels (up to $40,000 or up to $100,000) for establishing technical performance and conducting early development of innovative ideas and inventions.  Ideas that have a significant energy savings impact and future commercial market potential are targeted through a competitive solicitation process.  Also offers technical guidance and commercialization support to successful applicants.

Jobs Through Recycling — U.S. EPA program to support projects designed to enhance business development, technical assistance, and financing efforts for recycling-related industries.  The web site provides recycling market development information for state and local officials, sources of technical and financial assistance for recycling businesses, and general information about the program for visitors.

Small Business Development Centers — Quasi-governmental entities in every state created for the purpose of addressing the needs of small businesses.  These agencies have close ties with the federal SBA.

Small Business Innovation Research Program (National Center for Environmental Research--NCER) — Awards grants for research and development of pollution control technologies to small high-technology firms.

STAR Grants and Cooperative Agreements (NCER) — Awards grants to universities and other not-for-profit research institutions to help forge solutions to environmental problems.  Funding levels vary depending on the solicitation and research area (between $75,000 to $500,000 per year).

State Innovation Grants Solicitation (EPA) — Part of U.S. EPA's comprehensive strategy to advance innovative approaches for improving environmental results.  Part of EPA's National Center for Environmental Innovation (NCEI), a testing ground for innovative ideas that advance environmental protection.

U.S. Small Business Administration: Financing Your Business--Pollution Control Loan Program — SBA offers a "Pollution Control Loan Program" for planning, designing and installing pollution control facilities.  Under this loan guarantee program, loans up to $1,000,000 are available for the prevention, reduction, abatement, and control of any form of pollution, including recycling.
