Active Capital — Nationwide internet-based listing service that provides information to "angel" investors (typically wealthy individuals with significant business experience) on small, dynamic, growing businesses seeking $250,000 to $5 million in equity financing.

Advanced Manufacturing Office — U.S. Department of Energy's Advanced Manufacturing Office (AMO) is the lead government program working to develop and deploy new, energy-efficient technologies for manufacturing.  AMO was formerly known as the Industrial Technologies Program.  A variety of funding opportunities are available to manufacturers from the AMO and other organizations.

  Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance — Summary of federal programs that provide grants, loans, loan guarantees, services, information, scholarships, training, and insurance to the American public.

Center for Environmental Finance — U.S. EPA program providing financial technical assistance to the regulated community and advice and recommendations to the Agency on environmental finance issues, trends, and options.

Center for Innovative Technology (CIT) — CIT is a nonprofit corporation that accelerates the next generation of technology and technology companies.  CIT creates new technology companies through capital formation, market development, and revenue generation services.  To facilitate national innovation leadership and accelerate the rate of technology adoption, CIT creates partnerships between innovative technology startup companies and advanced technology consumers.

Clean Cities - Financial Opportunities — Clean Cities strives to advance the nation's economic, environmental, and energy security by supporting local decisions to adopt practices that contribute to the reduction of petroleum consumption.  Clean Cities has a network of approximately 90 volunteer coalitions, which develop public/private partnerships to promote alternative fuels and advanced vehicles, fuel blends, fuel economy, hybrid vehicles, and idle reduction.

Database of State Incentives for Renewable Energy (DSIRE) — Comprehensive source of information on state, local, and federal incentives and policies that promote renewable energy and energy efficiency.  Established in 1995 and funded by the U.S. Department of Energy, DSIRE is an ongoing project of the NC Solar Center and the Interstate Renewable Energy Council.

Enterprise Green Communities — Green Communities provides grants, financing, tax-credit equity, and technical assistance to developers who meet the criteria for affordable housing that promotes health, conserves energy and natural resources, and provides easy access to jobs, schools and services.

Environmental Technology Initiative — National Environmental Services Center, Environmental Technology Initiative (ETI), The National Small Flows Clearinghouse (NSFC) collection of approximately 600 innovative wastewater technology project summaries funded through the EPA's former Construction Grants Program.  The ETI fact sheets can be ordered as one package or separately.  The ETI for Chemicals sought to promote risk reduction within industry sectors by encouraging innovation and offers industry the opportunity to work with EPA.

Federal Grants Wire — Federal Grants Wire is a free resource for federal grants, government grants, and government loans.  There are over 1,900 federal grants and loans organized by sponsoring agency, applicant type, subject area, and a convenient directory.

Financial Tool Guides — The 2008 revision of the Guidebook of Financial Tools is a reference document for officials with environmental responsibilities.  It is designed to assist interested parties with finding mechanisms to finance environmental protection initiatives.  The guide to international Environmental Finance Tools (2011) includes international environmental financing tools, including assistance provided by U.S. government organizations and supported international financial institutions such as EPA, Agency for International Development, Department of Energy, World Bank, and the Asian Development Bank.

The Funders’ Network for Smart Growth and Livable Communities This is a non-partisan, not-for-profit organization that exists to inspire, strengthen and expand philanthropic leadership and funders’ abilities to support organizations working to improve communities through better development decisions and growth policies.

GovLoans.gov — GovLoans.gov is a gateway to government loan information.  Agencies represented on the site include the U.S. Department of Agriculture, U.S. Department of Commerce, U.S. Department of Education, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, and U.S. Small Business Administration.

Grants.gov — Established as a governmental resource named the E-Grants Initiative, Grants.gov was part of the President's 2002 Fiscal Year Management Agenda to improve government services to the public.  Today, Grants.gov is a central storehouse for information on over 1,000 grant programs and provides access to approximately $500 billion in annual awards.

Local Government Commission Funding Opportunities — The Local Government Commission (LGC) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, membership organization that provides inspiration, technical assistance, and networking to local elected officials and other dedicated community leaders who are working to create healthy, walkable, and resource-efficient communities.  They offer a list of energy-related financing, incentive, and education programs.

National Center for Environmental Research (NCER): Science to Achieve Results (STAR), People, Prosperity and the Planet (P3), Greater Research Opportunities (GRO) Grants and Fellowships, & Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Program — National Center for Environmental Research (NCER) is one of seven research organizations that comprise EPA's Office of Research and Development (Research).  NCER's mission is to support high-quality research by the nation's leading scientists and engineers that will improve the scientific basis for national environmental decisions.  NCER and Research mirror the National Academy of Sciences risk assessment paradigm by focusing research on: exposure, effects, risk assessment, and risk management.

North American Development Bank — The North American Development Bank (NADB) is a binational financial institution capitalized and governed equally by the U.S. and Mexico for the purpose of financing environmental projects certified by the Border Environment Cooperation Commission (BECC).  The two institutions work together with communities and project sponsors in both countries to develop and finance infrastructure necessary for a clean and healthy environment for border residents.

Recovery.gov — Federal assistance under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) includes grants-in-aid to state and local governments.  Agency Recovery Sites link to information about federal agency and department programs.  State Recover Sites cover state projects and state contacts for grant programs.

Recycling Market Development — U.S. EPA program to support projects designed to enhance business development, technical assistance, and financing efforts for recycling-related industries.  The web site provides recycling market development information for state and local officials, sources of technical and financial assistance for recycling businesses, and general information about the program for visitors.

Small Business Development Centers — Quasi-governmental entities in every state created for the purpose of addressing the needs of small businesses.  These agencies have close ties with the federal SBA.

Tax Incentives Assistance Project (TIAP) — The Tax Incentives Project (TIAP), sponsored by a coalition of public interest nonprofit groups, government agencies, and other organizations in the energy efficiency field, is designed to give consumers and businesses information they need to make use of the federal income tax incentives for energy efficient products and technologies passed by Congress as part of the Energy Policy Act of 2005 and subsequently amended several times.

Trade Adjustment Assistance for Firms — Trade Adjustment Assistance for Firms (TAA), a federal program, provides financial assistance to manufacturers affected by import competition.  Sponsored by the U.S. Department of Commerce, this cost sharing federal assistance program pays for half the cost of consultants or industry-specific experts for projects that improve a manufacturer's competitiveness.

U.S. Department of Energy, Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE)--Financial Opportunities —  EERE  works with business, industry, universities, and others to increase the use of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies.  One way EERE encourages the growth of these technologies is by offering financial assistance opportunities for their development and demonstration. In fiscal year 2007 alone, EERE awarded $574 million in financial assistance.

USDA National Agricultural Library Federal Funding Database -- Database of rural federal programs that includes full program description and contact information for each program.  The database is maintained in cooperation with the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance.

USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture -- NIFA supports the base programs of state Agricultural Experiment Stations and the Cooperative Extension System nationwide at land-grant universities.  As USDA's primary extramural research agency, NIFA provides working funds to researchers at institutions of higher education all over the United States.

U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Business and Cooperative Programs, Loan and Grant Programs — Various loans to promote rural economic and business development.

U.S. Department of Commerce-Economic Development Administration (EDA), Program and Funding Opportunities — The Economic Development Administration partners with distressed communities throughout the U.S. to foster job creation, collaboration, and innovation.

U.S. Department of Commerce-Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA), Grants and Loans — The Minority Business Development Agency is the only federal agency created specifically to foster the establishment and growth of minority-owned businesses in America.

U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)-Grants and Contracts — The Department of Energy's Office of Science (SC) is mainly supported through grants and contractual vehicles.  Processed through the Office of Science, Office of Grants and Contracts Support (GCS), the work serves as the principal acquisition, financial assistance (grants and cooperative agreements), and contract/grant management advisor to the Director of Science.

U.S. Department of Homeland Security - Contracts and Grants — Small businesses are a vital part of our national strength.  Our job is to ensure these companies have a fair opportunity to compete and be selected for Department of Homeland Security contracts.

U.S. EPA-American Indian Tribal Portal--Grants and Funding — Provides information about EPA's Indian Environmental General Assistance Program, information on tribal grants, an overview of categorical (program) financial and program assistance from EPA, and a link to the Tribal Environmental and Natural Resource Assistance Handbook.

U.S. EPA and U.S. Department of Energy Federal Tax Credits for Energy Efficiency — The Energy Policy Act of 2005 includes tax credits to consumers for energy efficiency home improvements, specific automobiles, and installation of solar energy systems and fuel cells. Tax credits are also available for home builders and appliance manufacturers, and tax deductions are available for commercial buildings that meet specific efficiency standards.

U.S. EPA-Brownfields Grants and Funding — EPA's Brownfields Program provides direct funding for brownfields assessment, cleanup, revolving loans, and environmental job training.  To facilitate the leveraging of public resources, EPA's Brownfields Program collaborates with other EPA programs, other federal partners, and state agencies to identify and make available resources that can be used for brownfields activities.  In addition to direct brownfields funding, EPA also provides technical information on brownfields financing matters.

U.S. EPA-Region 5 Contracts and Grants — EPA Region 5's listing of current procurements, Requests for Quotations (RFQs), closed procurements, and award notices.  

U.S. EPA SmartWay — Various federal, state, and nonprofit organizations provide funding that can be used for the reduction of emissions from long-duration truck and locomotive idling.

U.S. Small Business Administration--Loans and Grants — SBA offers a number of financial assistance programs for small businesses.  The site provides information on eligibility requirements, SBA loan programs, surety bonds and the role of SBA, equity capital topics, special purpose loans, SBA partner topics, and 7(a) lender programs.
