Center for Environmental

Database of State Incentives for
Renewable Energy (DSIRE) — Comprehensive source of information on
state, local, and federal incentives and policies that promote renewable
energy and energy efficiency. Established in 1995 and funded by
the U.S. Department of Energy, DSIRE is an ongoing project of the NC
Solar Center and the Interstate Renewable Energy Council.
Enterprise Green
Communities — Green Communities provides grants, financing,
tax-credit equity, and technical assistance to developers who meet the
criteria for affordable housing that promotes health, conserves energy
and natural resources, and provides easy access to jobs, schools and
services.
Environmental Technology
Initiative — National Environmental Services Center, Environmental
Technology Initiative (ETI), The National Small Flows Clearinghouse
(NSFC) collection of approximately 600 innovative wastewater technology
project summaries funded through the EPA's former Construction Grants
Program. The ETI fact sheets can be ordered as one package or
separately. The ETI for Chemicals sought to promote risk reduction
within industry sectors by encouraging innovation and offers industry
the opportunity to work with EPA.

— This is a non-partisan,
not-for-profit organization that exists to inspire, strengthen and

GovLoans.gov is a gateway to government loan information. Agencies
represented on the site include the U.S. Department of Agriculture, U.S.
Department of Commerce, U.S. Department of Education, U.S. Department of
Housing and Urban Development, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, and
U.S. Small Business Administration.
Grants.gov — Established as a
governmental resource named the E-Grants Initiative, Grants.gov was part
of the President's 2002 Fiscal Year Management Agenda to improve
government services to the public. Today, Grants.gov is a central
storehouse for information on over 1,000 grant programs and provides
access to approximately $500 billion in annual awards.
Inventions and
Innovation Program — U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) program
providing financial assistance at two levels (up to $40,000 or up to
$100,000) for establishing technical performance and conducting early
development of innovative ideas and inventions. Ideas that have a
significant energy savings impact and future commercial market potential
are targeted through a competitive solicitation process. Also
offers technical guidance and commercialization support to successful
applicants.

of information on state, local, utility, and selected federal incentives
that promote renewable energy.
Jobs Through Recycling —
U.S. EPA program to support projects designed to enhance business
development, technical assistance, and financing efforts for
recycling-related industries. The web site provides recycling
market development information for state and local officials, sources of
technical and financial assistance for recycling businesses, and general
information about the program for visitors.
Local
Government Commission Funding Opportunities -- The Local Government
Commission (LGC) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, membership organization
that provides inspiration, technical assistance, and networking to local
elected officials and other dedicated community leaders who are working
to create healthy, walkable, and resource-efficient communities.
They offer a list of energy-related financing, incentive, and education
programs.
North American Development Bank --
The North American Development Bank (NADB) is a binational financial
institution captialized and governed equally by the U.S. and Mexico for
the purpose of financing environmental projects certified by the Border
Environment Cooperation Commission (BECC). The two institutions
work together with communities and project sponsors in both countries to
develop and finance infrastructure necessary for a clean and healthy
environment for border residents.
Small Business
Development Centers — Quasi-governmental entities in every state
created for the purpose of addressing the needs of small businesses.
These agencies have close ties with the federal SBA.
Small Business
Innovation Research Program (National Center for Environmental
Research--NCER) — Awards grants for research and development of
pollution control technologies to small high-technology firms.
STAR Grants and
Cooperative Agreements (NCER) — Awards grants to universities and
other not-for-profit research institutions to help forge solutions to
environmental problems. Funding levels vary depending on the
solicitation and research area (between $75,000 to $500,000 per year).
State
Innovation Grant Program (EPA) — Part of U.S. EPA's comprehensive
strategy to advance innovative approaches for improving environmental
results. Part of EPA's National Center for Environmental
Innovation (NCEI), a testing ground for innovative ideas that advance
environmental protection.
Tax Incentives Assistance
Project (TIAP) — The Tax Incentives Project (TIAP), sponsored by a
coalition of public interest nonprofit groups, government agencies, and
other organizations in the energy efficiency field, is designed to give
consumers and businesses information they need to make use of the
federal income tax incentives for energy efficient products and
technologies passed by Congress as part of the Energy Policy Act of 2005
and subsequently amended several times.
Trade Adjustment Assistance for
Firms — Trade Adjustment Assistance for Firms (TAA), a federal
program, provides financial assistance to manufacturers affected by
import competition. Sponsored by the U.S. Department of Commerce,
this cost sharing federal assistance program pays for half the cost of
consultants or industry-specific experts for projects that improve a
manufacturer's competitiveness.

Department of Energy, Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy
(EERE) — EERE works
with business, industry, universities, and others to increase the use of
renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies.
One way EERE encourages the
growth of these technologies is by offering financial assistance
opportunities for their development and demonstration. In fiscal year
2007 alone, EERE awarded $574 million in financial assistance.

USDA National
Agricultural Library Federal Funding Database -- Database of rural

USDA National
Institute of Food and Agriculture -- NIFA supports the base programs
of state Agricultural Experiment Stations and the Cooperative Extension
System nationwide at land-grant universities. As USDA's primary
extramural research agency, NIFA provides working funds to researchers
at institutions of higher education all over the United States.

Tribal Portal--Grants and Funding — Provides information about EPA's
Indian Environmental General Assistance Program, information on tribal
grants, an overview of categorical (program) financial and program

U.S. EPA and U.S. Department of Energy Federal Tax Credits for Energy
Efficiency — The Energy Policy Act of 2005 includes tax credits to
consumers for energy efficiency home improvements, specific automobiles,
and installation of solar energy systems and fuel cells. Tax credits are
also available for home builders and appliance manufacturers, and tax
deductions are available for commercial buildings that meet specific
efficiency standards.
